Sophie von Kessel – Caroline Thomas

The German actress was born in Mexico City. She graduated from the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and also studied at the Juilliard School in New York. Sophie von Kessel starred from 1992 until 1995 in „Schloß Hohenstein“, a TV-production that got her a lot of attention. She continued acting in numerous TV-series and feature films. She played alongside Carlton Heston in the TV Mini-series “Camino de Santiago”, and starred in the French TV-series “Frank Riva” with Alain Delon. In 2005 she was awarded the Hessische Fernsehpreis for the TV-movie “Die Konferenz”. Apart from her career in film and television, Sophie von Kessel continuously focused on theatre.

She was a member in the company of the Münchner Kammerspiele from 1997 until 2001, and performed in renowned theatres such as Schauspiel Köln, the Deutsche Theater Berlin and the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel. In 2008 and 2009 she played the Buhlschaft in the famous annual “Jedermann”-Production at the Salzburger Festspiele. Since 2011 Sophie von Kessel is a member of the Residenztheater München Company, her latest productions at the Residenztheater are “Macbeth”, “Iwanow” “Madame Bovary” and “König Ödipus”.

In 2015 Sophie von Kessel was awarded the Kurt-Meisel-Preis for outstanding artistic achievements. In the course of her career she has worked with directors such as Martin Kušej, Andreas Kriegenburg, Dieter Dorn, Jan Bosse und Antoine Uitdehaag.
